Israel Continues excavation at Al-Aqsa Mosque
MENAFM – Saudi Press Agency – December 23, 2009
For the third consecutive day, Israeli excavation crews commenced digging in the area of the Umayyad palaces south of Al-Aqsa Mosque from the nearby district town of Helwah valley and town of Silwan, Palestinian sources said.
Since early morning, workers have started to remove dust and collect it in bags to be later removed to unknown destinations, as it happened in the past two days, the sources quoted witnesses saying.
The Israeli crew uprooted large boulders and ruins from ancient Islamic Umayyad era, as well as they installed a huge gate of more than three by two meters down into a deep hole. The gate raises suspicions that it was a tunnel gate dogged recently in Silwan towards the area closest to the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Marwani prayer place.
